The luxurious envelope that is – as we’re not really surprised that Maybach will have a limited edition go at the ultra-posh cabriolet, set for the official introduction on November 16 at the LA Auto Show.
Mercedes is almost ready to commence limited production of the most luxurious S Class Cabriolet ever, as the Maybach division is set to have a go at the model. This is not a bespoke command for the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show because the company’s teaser also revealed they will be manufacturing a limited series of 300 units. This model even sits above the Mercedes-Maybach S600 Sedan in the roster, so expect pricing to come close to $250,000 given its limited availability. There aren’t many details about the model but given the S650 moniker we could be looking at an enhanced version of the biturbo 6.0-liter V12 engine – which has 523 horsepower (390 kilowatts) and 612 pound-feet (830 Newton-meters) of torque in the MM S600 Sedan.
The Maybach-branded cabrio seems to be on the same dimensional level as the standard S-Class Convertible, but with added luxury panache – such as the chrome tidbits we noticed on the lower front air intake, or the custom interior trim with lots of Maybach badging.
