The exotic British automaker is on course to celebrate half a century of existence for the brand’s Plus 8 model, meaning it’s just about the right time to prepare a new special edition version, teased for its worldwide public debut in front of the audience at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
Morgan has seemingly announced via a new teaser video it will manufacture a new, limited edition, special run of a yet unknown variant of its long-lasting Plus 8 sports, as a token of appreciation for the car and its fans on the eve of its 50th anniversary. Naturally, a mere 50 examples of the Anniversary Special Edition models will be produced, but for now we’re left in the dark about the modifications for the new version.
We’re pretty sure we’ll find out more along the route towards March’s Geneva Motor Show, possibly with an online reveal ahead of the event to make sure it gets all the spotlights. This will also mark the very last instance of the BMW 4.8-liter V8’s use in the Plus 8, first seen there back in 2008. “The Plus 8 has always been the driver’s Morgan. Born of the racetrack, and having been no stranger to it since, has meant performance pedigree underpins every Plus 8 we have built. The Plus 8 has raced, and won, all over the world and has a fanatical following among Morgan owners,” explains Managing director Steve Morris.
