After being officially presented and even scheduled to go on sale starting from March 2012, the new generation of the iconic 911 in its drop top version of the Carrera and Carrera S is once again entering everyone’s attention after Porsche has released an official video presenting the new model.
According to the German based automaker, the new 911 Convertible is based on the 991 platform and the sports car will be offered in two levels: the Carrera and the Carrera S, where both of them will receive the same treatment as the Coupe. Porsche says that the Carrera Convertible will be powered by the 3.4 liter flat-six engine which is developing a total output of 350 horsepower and the Carrera S Convertible takes its power from a larger 3.8 liter flat-six unit which is generating 400 horsepower. Both engines are sending the power to the rear wheels through a standard seven-speed manual transmission, with a seven-speed dual-clutch PDK being available as an option.
Porsche says that the Carrera Convertible can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.0 seconds and it has a top speed of 286 km/h. On a combined run, the drop-top will burn 9.2 liters every 100 km and emit 217 grams of CO2 / km. The 911 Carrera S Cabriolet can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 301 km/h. The new generation of the Porsche 911 Cabriolet will be launched in Germany on March 3, 2012, and the Carrera will be priced at 100.532 EUR while the Carrera S will cost 114.931 EUR (VAT included).
