The German based automaker Audi has released a new video where the successor of the R8 sports car is being teased.
With the future generation of the Lamborghini Gallardo coming in 2013, the Audi R8 needed a replacement too and the car manufacturer is announcing, with the help of this latest teaser, that it’s currently working on a new generation, which should be 100 kilograms lighter than the current model, thanks to riding on a new aluminum and fiber composite platform, and the manufacturing costs will also drop while the body will become stiffer.
Rumors say that the future generation of the Audi R8 will be powered by the same V8 engines used in the fresh S6, S7 and S8 models, and the Germans are saying that these units will be able to develop even 600 horsepower once they will find their way under the hood of the new sports car. Until the new generation of the Audi R8 will make its way onto the market, the Ingolstadt based manufacturer has brought a facelift to the model, which is applied to both exterior and interior designs, offering better fuel economy and improved performance. An electric version of the Audi R8 is also expected to hit the market soon, anticipated by the R8 e-tron concept.
