The yellow GTA Spano which has been used for the Need for Speed movie has recently burst into flames for no obvious reason in Spain, recently.
If you are concerned about most of the supercars spontaneously combusting and you have your eyes on something different, like this GTA Spano, you will be very disappointed to find out that the vehicle in question is not a stranger to “occasional flames”. According the guys from Motorpassion, the model has caught fire on the A3 highway in Spain, 10 km from Valencia and close to the factory where it is being assembled.
The fire has started somewhere in the rear, in the engine compartment, and it has expanded to the entire vehicle. The GTA Spano, which is one of the stars of the NFS movie, has an 8.4 liter V10 engine under its hood, which is producing an impressive 900 HP (662 kW) and it has a peak torque of 1,000 Nm (737 lb-ft) of torque. The unit is connected to a 7-speed manual or to a 7-speed sequential automatic transmission. The 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint is made in less than 3 seconds and top speed stands at 350 km/h (217 mph).
At least 10 million vehicles were recalled by Toyota back in 2009 and 2010 for the “unintended acceleration” issue and so far GM has made 67 separate recall actions with almost 30 million vehicles due back in service.
