Since we’re dealing with a meager crossover – which has somehow managed to find itself trapped in a galaxy far, far away – it lacks the ability to evade into hyperspace when a Star Wars iconic machines battle ensues.
Nissan’s new commercial is looking to put the Rogue in tight spot – while showing us it can survive a battle in a galaxy far, far away while a fight between the Rebel Alliance and the Empire is on full display. Of course, it also promotes the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story ahead of the premiere on December 16 in the United States. But more importantly the Japanese automaker showcases the driver safety technologies available today on the SUV. The television version will last 30 seconds and is already airing, while the 60-second cut is reserved for theaters.
For fans of the Star Wars universe this is yet another chance to marvel at some of our favorite machines from Star Wars. The TIE Fighters and X-Wings fight to command the air, AT-STs stomp the ground and there’s even a glimpse of the movie’s AT-ACT, the cargo version of the famous quadrupedal walker from The Empire Strikes Back. The Japanese company will also have on display at the Los Angeles Auto Show later this month the 2017 Rogue: Rogue One Star Wars Limited Edition.
