An old Volkswagen Passat has managed to smoke a Ferrari 458 Italia in a drag race recently. Did we mention it was a diesel too?
Sleepers are something exotic car owners should fear because they might end up hating their rides. And this particular Volkswagen Passat B2, produced back in the ‘80s, is a true sleeper and it is also diesel powered. The old family estate has managed to smoke a Ferrari 458 Italia in a drag race recently as the crowd went wild. Sure, it may not be stock, but let’s not forget that it is old and ugly. And cheap. And a diesel. If you don’t believe us, just check out the video posted below.
As you probably already know by now, the Ferrari 458 Italia has left the production line recently in order to make room for its official successor, the 488 GTB. The model is a facelifted version of the old 458 and it has dropped the 4.5 liter naturally aspirated V8 engine in favor of a new 3.9 liter twin turbo V8. Before leaving production, Ferrari has introduced the range-topping version of the supercar, the 458 Speciale, in two body styles, coupe and roadster. The 458 was offered with a mid-engine and rear-wheel drive and it was shown back in 2009, at the Frankfurt Motor Show. It was the replacement of the F430 and it had 562 HP (419 kW) and 540 Nm (398 lb-ft) of torque. From 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph), this needed 3.0 seconds and top speed was 325 km/h (202 mph).
