The German based automaker Opel has recently released a new video of the Astra OPC, where the hot-hatch is making its debut on the track.
After being officially presented to the public at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, the new Opel Astra OPC is once again placed into the spotlights, this time by an official video, which is showing us the hot-hatch going around a track, proving that front-wheel drive cars can be fun too. The new Opel Astra OPC is the company’s attempt to re-enter the hot hatch segment which has been dominated by Ford and Renault in the last few years, but judging by the incredible output, torque and looks of the new Astra OPC, the model will most likely battle with its rivals on the same levels, except for the FWD, which Opel has no intention of turning it into a four-wheel drive.
The 2013 Opel Astra OPC is powered by a 2.0 liter four-cylinder engine, which is developing a total output 0f 280 horsepower and it has a peak torque of 400 Nm, mated to a six-speed manual transmission which is “moving” the front wheels. Opel is using a HiPerStrut suspension on the front wheels and the FlexRide chassis isn’t thrown away just yet. The new Astra OPC is offering three driving modes, Normal, Sport and OPC, with the last one being orientated at driving on atrack.
