Peugeot’s newest hot hatch, the 208 GTI, has been recently tested by the guys at XCar, in what turns out to be a nostalgic video.
The French based automaker has introduced the new 208 GTI hot hatch just earlier this year and the model has been compared by many to its grandfather, the 205 GTI, many of them saying that it doesn’t really stand up to its name. But this new test drive, made by the British at XCar, actually says that it’s a good thing that the 208 GTI is so different than the original hot hatch. You can check out the test drive in the video posted below.
The new Peugeot 208 GTI is taking its power from a 1.6 liter turbocharged engine, which is producing a total output of 200 HP and 275 Nm of torque, available at 1,700 rpm. The 1,160 kg hot hatch is coming with front-wheel drive only and power is being sent to it through the 6-speed manual transmission. The Peugeot 208 GTI can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.8 seconds and it can reach a top speed of 230 km/h. The model is only available in a three-door hatchback body style.
