The new Peugeot 308 GTi is finally here and we can now take a closer look at it in its first on-road review.
Starting the video with the old Peugeot racing cars, the guys from Inside Lane are telling us on the pedigree of the newest French compact hot hatch, the 308 GTi. This is quite a big deal considering the fact that it’s taking aim at some big names in the segment, the Volkswagen Golf GTI or the Ford Focus ST, but is this really what you need? Well, the review posted below is trying to answer some important questions so might want to take a look at it.
The 2016 Peugeot 308 GTi is taking its power from a 1.6 liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. This is being offered in two outputs, with 250 HP (184 kW) and with 270 HP (200 kW), both of them sharing the same torque figure: 330 Nm (224 lb-ft). The unit is connected to the front wheels through a six-speed manual transmission and it can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.2 seconds with the manual and in 6.0 seconds with the automatic. The starting price for the hot hatch on the Old Continent stands at 37,200 euros and for the two-tone red and black theme, customers will have to pay an extra 1,800 euros. Deliveries will begin this fall.
