The brand new 2015 Polaris Slingshot has been officially unveiled, following a teaser which has been released just a few weeks ago.
After being teased at the beginning of the month, the brand new 2015 Polaris Slingshot is now being placed into the spotlights once again, this time with the “help” of the company, which has officially pulled the wraps off its body. The model in question is basically a three-wheeled vehicle which will go against models such as the Campagna T-Rex or the KTM X-Bow.
The new Polaris Slingshot is weighing just 771 kg (1,700 lbs) and it stands at 149.6 inches long, at 77.6 inches wide and at 51.9 inches tall, riding on a 105 inch long wheelbase and having 5 inch of ground clearance. The three-wheeled vehicle is getting two 18-inch front wheels and a 20-inch rear wheel, along with polymer made body panels to guarantee its better resistance to impacts and also rustproof. Some of the other features found on the new Polaris Slingshot also include the tilt steering wheel, the 4.3-inch LCD, six-speaker sound system, Bluetooth, rearview camera, USB support, two lockable storage bins which can hold a helmet, locking glove box, waterproof seats and several other tweaks.
Polaris has also fitted the Slingshot with three-point seatbelts, with a reverse tilt hood, an electronic power assisted steering with ESC, a double wishbone forged aluminum suspension system, LED taillights, projector beam headlights and much more. Power to the Polaris Slingshot is being provided by a 2.4 liter EcoTec, signed by General Motors, which is producing a total output of 173 HP (129 kW) at 6,200 rpm and 225 Nm (166 lb-ft) of torque, available at 4,700 rpm. The engine is sending its power to the rear wheel through a 5-speeed manual transmission and a carbon reinforced drive belt. Prices for the 3-wheeled vehicle will be starting from 19,999 USD for the base model and for the SL from 23,999 USD.
