Porsche has been building GT2 versions of the 911 for 15 years, and RS models for longer still — 37 years, to be precise.
And! Last month, the first twenty Porsche GT2 RS customers had the opportunity to take delivery of their new 620 horsepower cars at the El Toro Air Station in Irvine, California.
Is the fastest and most powerful Porsche! Just 500 GT2 RS models will be built at a price of $245.000. Or, let me rephrase. Just 500 GT2 RS were built, because all 500 examples of the car destined for production have been accounted for.
The owners who received their vehicles were allowed to enjoy a track experience with the rear-engined beasts.
For those who don’t know, the GT2 RS develops 620 PS (456 kW; 612 hp) and 700 N·m (516 lb·ft) of torque and weighs 70 kg (150 lb) less than the standard GT2, allowing for a top speed of 330 km/h (210 mph) and 0-100km/h (0-62mph) acceleration of 3.4 seconds.
The GT2 RS clocked a record-breaking time of 7 minutes and 18 seconds around the Nürburgring-Nordschleife track (claimed by Porsche), one of the fastest times in modern production car history.
Also at the event was Andreas Preuninger, the Manager of High Performance Cars for Porsche, who narrated the video and explained the interesting background of Porsche’s latest supercar.
