Porsche has recently released a video in which the off-roader 911 is being highlighted and this might be the first official “statement” which is announcing a production version of such a model.
Several weeks ago we were talking about the so-called Porsche 911 Safari, an off-roader which should be officially unveiled during the 2014 Beijing Motor Show in a concept form. This was part of a report published by the German automotive media which was stating that the model in question should be aimed towards the poor road conditions in parts of the world like the Middle East, Russia, China and South America, amongst others.
Now, after the report was published in late 2013, the German based automaker is highlighting the 911 off-roader by releasing a video which is called “Porsche 911’s Alter Ego”, showing Jeff Zwart, the seven-time Pikes Peak champion, talking about the other side of the 911’s personality, which is off-roading and rallying. If it turns out that the company is planning such a model, than this will be inspired from the 1978 911 SC Safari rally car and it will receive some underbody cladding, an all-wheel drive system, a raised suspension system, beefier tires and some other tweaks.
