The second generation Panamera is shaping up to be a hit for Porsche – it has all new engines, a new – albeit evolutionary – design, high performance credentials and a bevy of technological advancements.
Alongside the rest of 2017 Panamera innovations, Porsche also opted to present to the world the newest and most up to snuff iteration of the Porsche Communication Management (PCM). It comes with an improved Porsche Connect to ensure maximum drivability while enjoying the high-tech life inside the four-door sedan from Stuttgart. Porsche says it offers its Connect Portal and Connect Store services in order to keep the owner connected online. The automaker can include support for LTE, Wi-Fi hotspot, and Apple CarPlay usability – meaning the plethora of iPhone smartphones will be seamlessly integrated with the vehicle’s new 12.3-inch infotainment system.
Porsche is also delivering 10 gigabytes of storage for media, two SD ports and USB interface for enhanced connectivity options. Car Connect also offers remote access to some of the vehicle’s stats using an app, with data concerning remaining range, mileage covered, or the ability to lock the car or identify its location. When selecting the E-Hybrid version the app will also control Panamera’s auxiliary heating, deliver hybrid-related info and program a charging timer. The GPS suite includes online navigation with real-time traffic information and support for Google Earth and Google Street View. There are even odd perks such as flight information, with the car accessing data about departure and arrival times, along with gate and terminal numbers.
