Renault has released a new video where the Duster is being shown while getting ready for the 2013 Dakar Rally.
The 2013 Dakar Rally will start on the 5th of January and it will end on the 30th of March. Renault couldn’t stay aside from the prestigious competition and the Australian division of the carmaker is preparing two race Dusters which will race in the 2013 Dakar. The vehicles will be driven by Emiliano Spataro, navigated by Benjamin Lozada, and by Francisco Jose Garcia, navigated by Javier Mauricio Malano. If the two low-cost SUVs will manage to complete the race, the popularity of the vehicles will increase.
The two Renault Dusters prepared for the 2013 Dakar will be powered by a Berta V6 engine which will produce a total output of 306 BHP and 442 Nm of torque, mated to a six-speed sequential transmission. The models were also fitted with a self locking differential and with ventilated disc brakes, with six pistons up front and with four pistons at the rear. The front suspension is coming in a double wishbone configuration and the shocks used are developed by Baratec. You can check out the Renault Duster preparing for the 2013 Dakar Rally below.
