In case you think the M5 Touring, the Mercedes-AMG E63 Estate or the Audi RS6 Avant are a bit too much for the in-laws, you could get a more conspicuous BMW 5 Series Touring pre-loaded with the M Performance parts.
The family kit of accessories has been premiered during the early spring at the Geneva Motor Show, and has almost everything to satisfy a tuning aficionado – from carbon fiber body accessories to new exhaust system, new alloys and cabin amenities. In case you select the 540i xDrive Touring you can ditch the “all show and no go” saying because the Bavarians will also fit as per request an optional power pack with some 34 horsepower (25 kilowatts) and 37 pound-feet (50 Newton-meters) of torque more, after massaging the straight-six 3.0-liter turbocharged engine. It comes to life with 360 hp (265 kW) and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm).
To much the beefier specs, the M Performance roster also includes larger brakes with red calipers – also compatible with the sedan version. Of course, some of you in this case might want to hold on until BMW finally premieres the highly anticipated M5, which for the first time comes with the grippy xDrive setup while also retaining the RWD functionality at the request of the user via the configurable driving modes.
