The limited special edition officially unveiled by the Japanese automaker is available on order in the United States starting with $29,990.
The limited-run Scion FR-S Release Series 1.0 was first presented to the public back in April during the New York Auto Show and comes to boost the aging line-up of the Toyota division dedicated to the North American region.
The special edition comes nicely equipped with features developed by the Toyota Racing Development (TRD) department and will be available in a limited run of 1,500 units. Exterior amenities include a newly developed aerodynamic body kit that features a side fender garnish and a different rear spoiler, mated to four exhaust tips and a lowered suspension via shorter springs. The ensemble is showcased by the striking Yuzu exterior paint scheme and is garnished with HID headlamps with LED daytime running lights up front. Inside the cockpit there’s a TRD steering wheel & shift knob, black seats, bespoke cargo mat and a badge featuring the series number inlayed on a brushed aluminum shifter surround plate.
No changes were made under the hood, where the Subaru-Toyota developed four-cylinder 2-0 liter boxer engine is placed, churning out 200 bhp (149 kW) and 151 lb-ft (205 Nm) via a six-speed manual transmission. There’s also an optionally available six-speed automatic gearbox that has paddle shifters and Dynamic Rev Management technology – with the price of the car increased to $31,090.
