The Spanish based automaker SEAT has recently revealed its new creation, and after the VW Up! inspired Mii, it now showing us its attempt to enter the electric vehicle segment, with a prototype based on the popular Altea model named the XL Electric Ecomotive, promising an estimated range of 135 km with a top speed assembling this figure too.
“Customers demand a more sustainable form of mobility, but their needs are diverse. Therefore, we believe that a parallel strategy of developing two different technologies will put SEAT in the best position to meet their needs, said the company’s president, James Muir.
According to SEAT, the Altea XL Electric Ecomotive has an electric drivetrain which is generating 115 horsepower (85 kW) and has a peak torque of 270 Nm, providing the vehicle with an estimated range of 135 km and a top speed of 135 km/h, which, theoretically, should be enough for a daily driver, but we can’t ignore a simple question: what happens when your “daily driver” wants to go on vacation or on a longer journey?
With the answer to that question remaining unknown, for now at least, SEAT says that the Altea XL Electric Ecomotive will enter production and it will be delivered to Spanish governmental institutions in Madrid and Catalonia for their vehicle fleets, kind of like a test drive before the real production version arrives.
