Chevrolet has recently taken the brand new and impressive 2014 Camaro Z/28 to the famous German track, the Nurburgring, where the muscle car has managed to lap it in just 7 minutes and 37.47 seconds.
The announcement has been made by the North American based automaker and even if the 7 minutes and 37.47 seconds of the 2014 Camaro Z/28 in lapping the Nurburgring may not seem that much, let’s not forget that this is still a rear-wheel drive muscle car with a six-speed manual transmission and it managed to outrun much more expensive vehicles like the Lamborghini Murcielago LP640, the Audi R8 V10 or the Porsche 911 Carrera S (991), amongst others.
During the attempt, there was some rain falling on the track too and this might also have slowed down the car. As for the engine found under its hood, the new Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 is getting a 7.0 liter V8 LS7, which is producing a total output of 500 HP (373 kW) and it has a peak torque of 637 Nm (470 lb-ft). The Z/28 also has carbon ceramic brakes, a track-tuned suspension system with stiffer springs and adjustable spool-valve dampers and a limited slip differential. The model weighs 136 kg (300 lbs) less than the ZL1 and is costs approximately 56,000 USD.
