The automotive journalist has went to Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates, where he has taken the hybrid vehicle for a spin at the Yas Marina circuit. Some of his conclusions are that in a straight line, the model feels faster than a Bugatti Veyron and that the P1 is in a different league compared to the Porsche 918 Spyder.
McLaren has already sold the 375 units of the P1 which have been produced for a price of 866,000 GBP, each. The British hybrid supercar has been unveiled back in 2013, during the Geneva Motor Show, in its final production form. The model is taking its power from a 3.8 liter twin turbo V8 petrol burner and by an in-house developed electric motor. The total output stands at 916 HP and 978 Nm of torque, which are being sent to the rear wheels through a 7-speed dual clutch transmission. The 0 to 100 km/h acceleration is made in 2.8 seconds and top speed has been electronically limited to 350 km/h (217 mph).
