What do you have to say about a supercar bursting into flames? Well, you may pity the owner, but this is not really the normal reaction in this case.
You can say that the driver of this exotic model was looking for trouble while trying to show off and, if usually these examples are known as “spontaneous combustion”, you can call this one a “spontaneous stupidity”. Revving the supercar has started a fire in its rear bumper which has quickly expanded to the rear end, ending up ruining it completely. You can see the full video of the incident below, right after the jump.
The model in question is a Lamborghini Aventador Roadster and the “place to be” is Dubai. Happily no one seems to have been injured in this incident. The Aventador is the current flagship model born in Sant’Agata Bolognese. The exotic vehicle has replaced the Murcielago and it is maintaining the rear mid-engine and all-wheel drive layout. It is being offered in two body styles, the two-door coupe and two-door roadster, but the drop-top is far more exclusive than its solid roof brother. The Aventador is using a 6.5 liter naturally aspirated V12 engine, rated at 690 HP (510 kW) at 8,250 rpm and 689 Nm (508 lb-ft) available at 5,500 rpm. It takes just 3.0 seconds to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) from a standstill and top speed is 350 km/h (217 mph). The Roadster has been announced for production back in late 2012 and it has two removable carbon fiber panels, weighing 6 kg each.
