The Czech based automaker Skoda and the Spanish based automaker Seat have placed their small urban cruisers into the spotlights once again, during the latest Euro NCAP testing session, where the small Citigo and Mii managed to score a five-star rating.
After their mother brand Volkswagen got five stars for its Up! model, the Skoda Citigo and the Seat Mii also scored perfect, despite of their small size. According to the safety specialists at Euro NCAP, the two models, the Citigo and Mii, which are structurally identical to the Volkswagen Up!, having the same interior fittings and equipment, are offering perfect protection for the passenger and adequate protection for the driver in the frontal impact.
Euro NCAP says that for the side barrier test the Skoda Citigo and the Seat Mii showed good results while in the side pole impact, the dummies indicated rib compression and marginal protection of the driver’s chest. The Skoda Citigo and the Seat Mii are also “friendly” to pedestrians, with the bumpers providing good protection to the legs, but the front edge of the bonnet was poor in all areas tested and scored no points.
With the ESC (Electronic Stability Control) being standard in most European countries and optional in others, the two models passed the Euro NCAP requirements and may be the cars of choice for mothers who are sick of large SUVs or simply can’t afford one.
