The German automaker has graced the Geneva Motor Show with interesting open-top models such as the E-Class Cabriolet or the incredibly lavish Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet.
But now that the summer is not yet here, we also have to discuss models that can better shelter you from the elements – as in because they’re using a fixed metal roof. As such we can discuss the spied prototype of the upcoming facelifted C Class Coupe. We should be expecting the automaker to deliver the regular C Class with an update later this year, but as far as the two-door derivative is concerned, we’ll have to wait another year or so. With the German premium automakers now under Audi’s “change lots, but nothing” spell, the mid-life cycle refresh is… well at least subtle.
We can see there will be some mild corrections to the LED headlights, as well as a different bumper – still covered by camouflage. More importantly, there will be deeper mechanical changes. Mercedes is coming back to the straight-six engine configuration, with new petrol and diesel engines in the rekindled inline-six family, but there will also be a new 48V electric system delivering low-end torque and better fuel efficiency. By the way, we may remind you the same changes are also going to be applied to the 2019 C Class Cabriolet.
