The 2018 BMW X3, codename F97, has been caught going wild on and about the Nurburgring Nordschleife in its most powerful iteration – the possible X3 M.
The 2018 BMW X3 has been spied while testing across the Green Hell and the rumor mill considers its introduction deadline should be reached sometime next year. The video calls the spotted model as the X3 M, but we should all take this with a pinch of salt. This is because this specific prototype appears to wear the classic front end of the regular model – and if we look up the internet for pictures of the X3 M we’ll find the version packing the usual sporty appearance with dynamic front bumper and larger air intakes. And the X3 M should also pack the usual array of modified side skirts and lighter alloy wheels.
No matter what version we’re looking at we can be sure the X3 will go down the evolutionary route with some of the styling elements being inspired by the latest X1. The new generation X3 should also come with an updated interior packing a digital instrument cluster, a new three-spoke steering wheel, and a freestanding iDrive display. Under the hood we should expect the regular variety of four cylinder and inline-six engines. The higher-spec X3 M40i is also eagerly anticipated, while the X3 M is suspected to carry a 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo six-cylinder with approximately 500 horsepower.
