[Video] Stolen Tesla Model S involved in high speed chase, horror crash and fire
So far the only available all electric luxury product, Tesla’s Model S caught the unwanted attention of a thief, which was pursued by cops in West Hollywood, LA, involved in high speed horror crash that split the car in two and made it ultimately burn to crisp.
For some this was a holiday weekend in the US, but for others it was business “unusual”, as a thief that tried to run from police in a stolen Tesla Model S ended up causing a dangerous high-speed crash with reported multiple injuries – and also leading to the electric model being split in half and catching fire.
“Everybody who was looking was screaming. They tried to help but there was too much smoke,” said an eyewitness to NBC Los Angeles, noting that the back half was sandwiched in a nearby synagogue and the front catching fire.
“We’ve asked to take a look at the vehicle as soon as that’s possible,” said Tesla spokesman Simon Sproule. “There aren’t so many S’s involved in major crashes, and certainly not quite like this one, so we absolutely want to have a look to understand what happened.”
Los Angeles police and fire officials that investigate the happenings are backed by the electric automaker, after the unidentified man – now injured and in custody – stole the Model S on July 4, was involved in a high speed chase, crashed into several cars and had the car split in two by a light pole, which led to a battery fire.
