The British ultra-luxury sports car manufacturer has taken the wraps off a fresh video teaser depicting the engine that will motivate the upcoming DB11 model.
This is the name that will have to carry on the legacy of the DB9 (if you saw James Bond’s latest adventure you’ll know where the DB 10 went) and the model has been labeled as “coming soon” – though the exact timeframe is anyone’s guess since we’re not dealing here with a regular, mass-market carmaker. Anyways the new DB11 will carry under its hood a completely new V12 engine with a 5.2-liter displacement and linked to a couple of turbochargers – we’re betting the Mercedes-AMG division has an involvement here since they signed their technical agreement. Word on the “street” puts the all new engine significantly up the ladder compared to its predecessor – the DB9 came with 510 hp and 458 pound-feet (620 Nm) from a naturally aspirated 6.0-liter V12.
The rumor mill also calls for a long awaited all new platform for the DB11 (one that will likely carry over to the rest of the range subsequently) that has been critical with the weight department – the DB9 currently tips the scales at 3,935 pounds (1,785 kilograms). And since the power is up and weight is down, fans should be expecting a jump across the performance roster, from the sprint times to the higher mileage provided. And styling calls for a stylish successor of the Db9, albeit with all the familiar traits – perhaps borrowing from the DB10 concept.
