Mercedes Benz has revealed a new video showing its natural aspirated 5.5-liter V8 engine in the SLK 55 AMG.
Like the previous SLK55, this model gets a 5.5-liter V8 engine, but that’s where the similarities stop. Making 415-hp and 398 lb-ft of torque, this motor is a naturally aspirated version of the twin-turbo 5.5-liter found under the hood of the E63 AMG, CLS63 AMG and S63 AMG.
Average fuel economy is said to be rated as low as 7.0L/100km, while CO2 emissions will be 199g/km.
Helping the new SLK55 achieve these figures will be the addition of stop-start technology as standard, as well as a unique new technology to Mercedes-Benz inspired by F1 engineering called the AMG Cylinder Management.
As the name suggests, this deactivates four cylinders under lighter loads, springing back into life instantly when you inevitably get bored and floor it.
