Elon Musk, the “mad genius” behind so many interesting projects (electric cars, space flight, HyperLoop), has another new project up his sleeve – The Boring Company.
The company, which is not dull but has to do with tunnel digging, has delivered its first descriptive animated video of its strategy during a TED talk by the Tesla CEO recently in Vancouver. The new venture seems to think it can deliver underground transportation solutions, complete with electric slot car transportation on skateboards for vehicles that need moving below the surface.
Since we’re dealing with an Elon Musk venture there are only Tesla Model S and X everywhere, that go from the regular street level into the future of underground travel – at speeds in excess of 120 mph, naturally. Musk claims the idea is to have rapid transportation in urban areas – for example Westwood to LAX would take about “5-6 minutes”.
As far as we can tell, Musk has a vision of shaping the future – one day you might have a house with solar power from Tesla solar panels, energy storage from Tesla battery packs, go to work in an autonomous car shared Model S, 3 or X (yes, you’ll have time for the spelling while you travel) and maybe have a vacation on the Moon or on Mars courtesy of Musk’s SpaceX rockets.
