Top Gear’s Season 15 Episode 7 is now available. On this episode: This is a Christmas special. The boys are going on an American road trip in three of the best cars known to man: the Mercedes SLS AMG, Ferrari 458 Italia and Porsche GT3 RS.
On the same time, Danny Boyle’s in the Kia, and the presenters share some special Christmas gifts.
Ok, now talking about those cars…
Powering the SLS is a revised version of AMG’s now-familiar 6.2-liter 32-valve V-8. In the SLS, the engine makes 563 hp at 6800 rpm and 479 lb-ft of torque at 4750 rpm. The Mercedes SLS AMG features an aluminium space frame, a 7-speed double-clutch gearbox and has a starting price of 177,310 Euros while options like hich-performance ceramic brakes cost an extra 11,305 Euros.
The Ferrari 458 Italia was launched to critical acclaim at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2009 and quickly garnered some of the top awards in the industry, including BBC Top Gear’s “Car of the Year” and “Supercar of the Year”, as well as GQ’s “Supercar of the Year” and MSN Cars “Supercar of the Year” in addition to several other international accolades. The super car looks impressive from any angle as it has a design that has never been seen before on a Ferrari model.
Under the hood Ferrari has placed a 4.5 Liter V8 engine that produces 570 HP at a rather high 9000 RPM which gives the future super car a power output of 127 HP/Liter.
And, at last, the Porsche GT3 RS – the 911 GT3 RS is a genuine racing car approved for the road.
The heart of the new 911 GT3 RS, the power unit, is based on the engine already featured in the 911 GT3. So, the all-new 911 GT3 RS features a new and more powerful 3.8-liter flat-six — up from 3.6-liters last year, and now producing 450 horsepower. That figure is 15 horsepower up on the current GT3 and 35 horsepower more than the previous GT3 RS.
