The new Jaguar XJ features innovative, all-LCD dashboard and console displays.

The former can be configured to display various virtual dials in addition to the obligatory speedometer, whereas the latter presents different views to the driver and passenger, including control of a sophisticated video and audio system. Priced from $72,500, the car rivals the BMW 7-Series and Mercedes-Benz S-Class lines.

The Porsche 959 was a sports car manufactured by Porsche from 1986 to 1989, first as a Group B rally car and later as a legal production car. Production was limited to 200, and all were spoken for within weeks despite an otherworldly price of around 225,000 U.S. dollars. Still, Porsche lost a bundle on every one, as actual unit cost was estimated at a cool $530,000.

In 1987 Enzo Ferrari celebrated his 40th anniversary at the helm of his eponymous sports car operation by launching the F40, a racing car destined for… the road. The car had no traction control, and was one of the few to utilize turbochargers at that time.

The car debuted with a suggested price of approximately US$400k although some buyers were reported to have paid as much as US$1.6 million. Production was limited to 1,315 units.
