Video: Top Gear Season 18 Episode 4
Top Gear’s Season 18 Episode 4 is now available. In this episode we have three supercars: The new Ferrari FF, the Bentley Continental V8 and the Fisker Karma plug-in hybrid luxury sports sedan.
We already know Jeremy doesn’t rate the W12 Continental that highly, but what will he think of the ‘Sporty’ new Continental V8? As for the Ferrari FF, he says it’s faster than the 458 – as long as it rains.
Unveiled for the first time on March 1, 2011 at the Geneva Motor Show, the FF is Ferrari’s first production four-wheel drive model. It has a 6,262 cc (6.3 L; 382.1 cu in) naturally aspirated direct injected 65° V12 engine , which produces 660 PS (485 kW; 651 hp) at 8,000 rpm and 683 Nm (504 lb-ft) of torque at 6000 rpm. The 0-62mph sprint is covered in 3.7 seconds, while top speed is 208mph. So it’s no surprise that Ferrari is billing this as the world’s fastest GT car.
The Continental V8 is powered by a 4.0-liter V8 engine that delivers 373kW (500hp) at 6000rpm and 660Nm of torque between 1700 and 5000rpm. Combined with a new close-ratio 8-speed automatic transmission, this translates into a sub-5 second acceleration time for the 0-60 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint and a top speed of over 180 mph (290 km/h).
Available from January, the new Continental GT V8 will start at £120,000 in the UK.
