Top Gear’s Season 19 Episode 6 is now available. On this episode: This is Africa Special, Part 1.
Jeremy, James, and Richard are in central Africa to find the source of the Nile River in three used estate cars.
Over the years many explorers claim to have already done just that, but the Top Gear trio believes that they can do better.
The cars? James will have an old Volvo 850R Wagon, Richard a Subaru Impreza WRX Estate while Clarkson will come with a BMW 5 Series.
Built from 1992 to 1997, the Volvo 850 was the first front-wheel drive vehicle made by Volvo to be sold in North America. This is the car that gave Volvo its reputation as a high-end auto maker in North America due to the level of features available.
On the same time, Subaru introduced the WRX in 1992. In Europe the model came with 208 hp (155 kW; 211 PS). In the United Kingdom, Subaru offered six “WRX 1.8GL” in 1993 according to Wikipedia.
Now, while the Volvo is an fwd vehicle, the Subaru is all-wheel-drive, and for a trip in central Africa, in our opinion is the best car. So how about Jeremy and his BMW?
