A Toyota GT 86 commercial has been recently banned in the United Kingdom for encouraging dangerous driving.
The Toyota GT 86 is probably one of the hottest cars released over the past few years, along with its twin brother Scion FR-S and with the Subaru BRZ, and aggressive marketing campaigns have just made its even hotter. A commercial video with the Toyota GT 86 has been banned in the United Kingdom because the footage was apparently encouraging dangerous driving but after we’ve seen the video in question, we can’t exactly agree with the British authorities.
As a quick reminder, the Toyota GT 86 is powered by the same engine as the Subaru BRZ or the Scion FR-S, which is the 2.0 liter four-cylinder petrol unit, borrowed by Subaru and fitted with the company’s D-4S direct injection. The petrol engine is developing a total output of 187 horsepower, at 7,000 rpm, and it has a peak torque of 205 Nm (151 lb-ft), available at 6,600 rpm. The unit is mated to a six-speed manual in standard, or to a six-speed automatic, which is available as an option. You can watch the banned commercial below. Enjoy!
