The North American based automaker Chevrolet has recently announced a new option for the Traverse in the U.S., which is a front center airbag.
According to the car manufacturer, the Chevrolet Traverse equipped with the front center airbag will be able to provide additional restraint to the driver and to the front passenger in case of a far-side impact. The new airbag is deploying in milliseconds from the inboard side of the driver’s seat adding more protection for both the driver and the front passenger.
“The front centre airbag is not required by federal regulation, and no other airbag in passenger vehicles today offers the type of restraint and cushioning this airbag is designed to provide for front occupants”, said the GM advanced restraint systems senior staff engineer, Scott Thomas, back in 2011, when the front center airbag was initially announced.
As a quick reminder, the 2013 Chevrolet Traverse is being offered in the United States with three trim levels, the LS, the LT and the LTZ, with either front-wheel or all-wheel drive, in seven- or eight-seat configurations, with a 3.6L V6 engine and a six-speed automatic transmission.
