The new generation of the Volkswagen Golf GTI has been recently tested by the guys at Sport Auto, on a quiet side road, where the fasted version of the new Golf generation, up to date, until the R will be launched, has managed to reach a top speed of 259 km/h (161 mph). Now that’s one fast C-segment hatchback. But don’t think that the 0 to almost 260 km/h (161 mph) sprint is done that easily and, in fact, the model needed almost 50 seconds to reach its top speed.
As a quick reminder, the new generation of the Volkswagen Golf GTI has been recently unveiled by the German based automaker. This is the first time in the model’s history when it’s getting two versions, the regular with 271 HP and the GTI Performance, with its 227 HP. The 0 to 100 km/h in the VW Golf GTI Performance takes 6.4 seconds. Both models will go on sale across the United States sometimes next year.
