Volkswagen has recently released the first video with the new Golf R Cabrio, which is showing the drop-top in action.
After it has been officially unveiled a few days ago, ahead of its public debut scheduled for the 2013 Geneva Motor Show next month, the “new” Volkswagen Golf R Cabrio is being placed into the spotlights once again, this time with the help of its first official video. The footage posted below is showing the model in action and despite its exaggerated starting price, we must admit that the Golf R Cabrio sounds pretty good.
The Volkswagen Golf R Cabrio in question is based on the Golf 6 generation and it wasn’t made on the MQB platform. The model has black side mirrors, R sport seats, R exhaust system, new steering wheel, Talladega 18-inch alloy wheels and more. Power to the Volkswagen Golf R Cabrio is being provided by a 2.0 liter FSI engine, which is producing a total output of 265 HP. The unit is mated to a six-speed DSG transmission, which is allowing the model to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.4 seconds, before reaching a top speed of 250 km/h.
