The German based automaker Volkswagen has recently announced its plans to launch the new Golf R Cabrio in spring, 2013.
After the very first official video with the fastest convertible Golf up to date has hit the web just a few days ago, the Volkswagen Golf R Cabrio is being placed into the spotlights once again, this time with the carmaker announcing its arrival in the company’s showrooms in spring, 2013. The new Golf R Cabrio is based on the current MK6 Golf drop-top and, even if the German based automaker has announced its official launch date, the price list of the model remains unknown for the moment.
The production version of the Volkswagen Golf R Cabrio is getting an aggressive front fascia, LED daytime running lights, new side skirts, gloss black accents, dual exhaust system and Talladega style alloy wheels. The cabin is getting embroidered leather seats, R badging and more. The model is being powered by a 2.0 liter petrol inline four-cylinder engine, which is good for 270 HP (199 kW) and 350 Nm of torque (258 lb-ft). Performance details haven’t been announced yet but the model should accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 6 seconds before reaching a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph).
