Not too long before, the German based automaker has officially presented its Cross Coupe Concept at the 42nd edition of the Tokyo Motor Show but that wasn’t just enough for Volkswagen who decided to place its Cross Coupe Concept into the spotlights for the second time by releasing a new video where the compact crossover is being presented. Even if the new Volkswagen Cross Coupe Concept has more in common with the 2012 Passat, in terms of design, when speaking about the front fascia at least, we are definitely looking at the future generation of the Tiguan, or maybe a new SUV.
According to the German based automaker, the Volkswagen Cross Coupe Concept is powered by three power sources which are creating a hybrid system, made out of a 148 HP TSI engine developing 155 lb-ft and 148 HP, a 54 HP (40 kW) and 133 lb-ft electric engine powering the front wheels and if the vehicle is being used in all-wheel drive or pure electric mode, another electric motor is integrated as a co-axial drive unit in the back axle, powering the rear wheels and generating 114 HP and 199 lb-ft of torque. The 0 to 100 km/h acceleration is being done in 7 seconds and the top speed is 125 mph or 75 mph when in full electric mode.
