The new generation of the Volkswagen Golf GTI has been recently taken for a spin by the guys at Auto Express, and what came out can be seen in the video posted below.
The Volkswagen Golf 7 GTI is one of the most awaited C-segment hot hatches on the market and after it was officially presented to the public during the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, back in March, the model is being placed into the spotlights once again, this time by the guys at Auto Express, who have went for a spin in the car. The new Golf GTI is riding on the same MQB platform, used on the regular version, and also on other new models in the carmaker’s lineup.
The most interesting part of the brand new Golf 7 GTI is found under its hood, where the 2.0 liter turbocharged four-cylinder direct injected petrol engine, from the EA888 series, is resting. The unit is producing a total output of 220 PS (162 kW). The new VW Golf GTI is now available, for the first time in history, with a more powerful version, named the Golf GTI Performance. This is getting 230 PS (169 kW). Both versions get the 6-speed transmission and the stop/start as standard. Fuel consumption stands at 6.0L / 100km and CO2 emissions stop at 139 g/km.
