[VIDEO] Watch a Chevy Corvette Stingray by Hennessey hit 200 mph
A brand new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, modified by Hennessey, has managed to reach a top speed of just over 200 mph, in Texas.
The world famous North American car tuning company Hennessey Performance has recently taken a Corvette Stingray, from the new generation, and thanks to some interesting modifications, added to the car, this has managed to reach a top speed of 200.6 mph (322.8 km/h). The top speed attempt took place on a closed section of the recently finished E segment of the Texas State Highway 99, which is located near Houston.
According to the guys at Hennessey, the 2014 Corvette Stingray in question has received the HPE600 package which means a Nitrous Express nitrous oxide system, long-tube headers, custom camshaft, ported factory cylinder heads, high-flow catalysts and some other tweaks. Thanks to these modifications, the sports car’s 6.2 liter V8 engine is now producing a total output of 700 BHP (522 kW), at 6,500 rpm, compared to the stock 460 BHP (343 kW). The top speed has also increased from 180 mph to 200 mph. Prices for adding these “goodies” to your very own Corvette Stingray have been set at 22,500 USD.
While a few years ago analysts predicted big, chunky full size pick-ups would die even in the US, now they are setting again record sales, so might they have been wrong also about the mid-size US pickup segment?
