About two weeks ago – he is fine now, after the leg surgery – famous TV host Richard Hammond was involved in a rather serious accident aboard the Rimac Concept One all-electric supercar.
All we can say is he cheated lady Death one more time – as the former Top Gear host managed to escape without serious injuries (broken knee) just prior to the vehicle’s fiery demise. As it turns out, he was actually there along with his colleagues Jeremy Clarkson and James May to film a segment for The Grand Tour, involving three supercars with different powertrains. Hammond was behind the wheel of the fully electric Rimac Concept_One, Clarkson went for the all-mighty ICE of the Lamborghini Aventador S, and May came in between driving a Honda NSX hybrid.
A new behind-the-scenes video now reveals the three took turns around the Hemberg Bergrennen hillclimb circuit in the Swiss Alps – and the footage also includes images of Hammond’s crash, and we’re again surprised at how lucky he was to escape the accident with only a broken leg. As far as The Grand Tour, it’s known work has been delayed – but there’s no information about the show’s premiere in October being postponed, only that some episodes will not feature the “Hamster”.
