The famous WRC racing driver Sebastien Loeb has recently went for a spin in the brand new Peugeot 208 T16 Pikes Peak.
The French based automaker’s new creation in terms of racing cars is named the Peugeot 208 T16 Pikes Peak and the model will run in the Unlimited Class of the 2013 Pikes Peak Hill Climb. The racer is being driven by 9-time World Rally Champion Sebastien Loeb, in the footage posted below. The race car driver has been compared with an F1 car in terms of performance.
“I’ve never driven anything that accelerates so fast! In the lower gears, a Formula 1 car doesn’t deliver maximum power. With the Peugeot, though, it’s bang, bang, bang as you move up the box from standstill. Thanks to its four-wheel drive transmission and turbocharged engine, its pull-away performance is phenomenal! You find yourself in sixth gear at 240kph in no time at all!”, said Sebastien Loeb.
The Peugeot 208 T16 Pikes Peak is powered by a 3.2 liter twin turbo V6 engine, which is producing 875 HP (652 kW). The unit is mated to a six-speed sequential transmission with steering wheel paddle shifters. The model can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 1.8 seconds, from 0 to 200 km/h (124 mph) in 4.8 seconds and from 0 to 240 km/h (149 mph) in 7 seconds. The 208 T16 is 4,500 mm long, 2,000 mm wide and 1,300 mm tall, with a 2,695 mm wheelbase and a total weight of 875 kg.
