Sunday night’s American Music Awards also had an automotive star – Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. In the space of just a few hours, five FCA brands and appearances and music video footage from Eminem, Phillip Phillips, Fergie, Gwen Stefani and Imagine Dragons debuted.
Way to go Chrysler – not only the third-largest automaker in the US has seen a record-hitting growth that lasted for the last 52 consecutive months, but the marketing department also manages to hit numerous sweet spots with the wide audience.
Chrysler and Interscope Records delivered during Sunday night’s American Music Awards had each recording artist, or footage from their music videos included in commercials that aired during the music award show for the Dodge, Ram, Chrysler, Fiat and Jeep brands. The mastermind behind the interesting idea was Chrysler chief marketing officer Olivier François, who brought up the partnership between the well-known Interscope studio and the carmaker. Honoring that very idea is the fact that the partnership between François and Interscope founder Jimmy Iovine is showcased in four of the five new commercial ads – all ending with the tagline “Let’s keep driving music.”
What’s more interesting – especially when counting the iconic artists implicated – is that Chrysler has said that all five ads were only broadcast on television on Sunday – it’s a curious one-time procedure. Nevertheless, thanks to YouTube, we can see as many times as we want four of them:
