We’ve actually seen a great deal of the Mercedes-AMG GT R already, and we wish the Germans took notice the way McLaren handled the 570S Sprint reveal – they delivered two teasers and then on with the presentation ahead of the Goodwood debut.
Chances are Mercedes-AMG’s GT R debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed will be discarded as yet another teaser when the model is actually live, as there’s an almost endless stream of teasers coming from underneath its green hood. Well, if you’re not bored already, here’s another set of brief videos playing on the Green Hell – Nurburgring Nordschleife – credentials, and this time we also catch a glimpse of the model. At least we do know the track-oriented model will receive its official unveiling on June 24 – with the teasers playing on the strengths of video footage, as we can hear the biturbo V8 in all its glory.
Cruising on civilized roads means a civilized demeanor – with a slight rumble just hinting at what’s lurking when you hit the throttle. The first video also shows how snarling is good for frightening parrots while the final teaser shows the low growl again, which attracts the attention of a lizard. The Mercedes-AMG GT R is not yet official, but the Mercedes unit has already delivered some of the specifications – biturbo V8 with 577 horsepower capable of hitting 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 3.6 seconds.
