The all-new Scenic generation has been presented by the French automaker in a bid to demonstrate the MPV segment hasn’t – at least not yet – succumbed to the crossover/SUV craze.
The new generation Scenic falls in line with the latest stylistic choices undertaken by Renault’s design department and we can say this is also one of the reasons they now have a compelling MPV case. With the segment almost fading away due to the high sales of crossovers and SUVs, you really need to stand out – something the French have been receptive to (just take a look at the Citroen C4 Picasso). Now the 2017 Scenic is not on the market yet, with production most likely starting towards the latter part of the year – but that doesn’t keep Renault from delivering some marketing prowess via several promotional videos.
The Scenic isn’t groundbreaking in any direction – but they have a compelling list of features taken from all over the Renault roster, from Park Assist function, head-up display to the tablet-like infotainment system. Since design is a big reason you’re going to buy the Scenic, you need to know Renault says those large alloy wheels are going to be standard across the range. Speaking of the latter, the engine choices are the same as in the new Megane – including the six or seven speed twin-clutch transmission.
