The Amarok Dark Label special series is not new, actually being announced exactly one year ago, but it’s only now it had the time to also check up the British market.
The Amarok Dark Label Edition was revealed last September but only debuted officially during the Frankfurt Motor Show, with the model based on the Trendline trim. The special series will become available in the UK as well starting with September 22, with an initial asking price of £26,125 (OTR ex VAT).
For that money, British buyers will get just 300 units of the Amarok, featuring a two-tone exterior, protruding wheel arches, a front skid plate and tinted rear windows with blacked out B-pillars. For the other shade we have matte black side steps, tinted taillights and 18-inch alloys featuring a black finish.
Inside the changes are subtler but the customers do get an Alcantara upholstery and special velour floor mats. The cabin is also accessorized with an infotainment system with GPS navigation.
Under the hood there’s a 2.0-liter BiTDI engine that delivers 180 PS (132 kW) and 420 Nm (310 lb-ft) of torque and can be mated to a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission. The latter seems more interesting, as it also boasts a start/stop system, regenerative braking and tires with low rolling-resistance.
