The German based automaker Volkswagen will officially present the Beetle Convertible Concept during the 2012 Beijing Motor Show.
Even if there is no official word on this subject just yet, rumors are saying that the car company is getting ready to launch a drop-top version of the new Beetle in early 2013, and the model will make its debut this month as a concept car, with a possible production vehicle going to be presented in autumn during another international auto show, most likely in Europe, like Paris or Frankfurt. The Volkswagen Beetle Convertible Concept will be based on the E-Bugster Concept which was presented at NAIAS in Detroit earlier this year.
The Volkswagen Beetle Convertible is expected to come with the same powertrain options as its solid roof sister, which means that the vehicle will be powered by the 2.5 liter engine, which is developing 170 horsepower, by the 2.0 liter TFSI, with its 200 horsepower and by the 2.0 liter TDI diesel unit with 138 HP and 320 Nm of torque (236 lb-ft), mated to a six-speed manual transmission as standard or to a dual-clutch transmission. More details on the new Volkswagen Beetle Convertible will be announced during the 2012 Beijing Motor Show, later on this month.
