Volkswagen is planning to put the Bugster concept into production, after the model has been well received by the public at the 2012 Detroit Motor Show.
According to autocar.co.uk, the German based automaker Volkswagen might put the Bugster concept into production. This action comes immediately after the model has been well received by the public attending the 2012 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit. The Bugster concept’s designers also think that the model has a huge chance of entering production as a third version of the new Beetle.
“This is a serious proposal for a speedster Beetle and I am sure it will come for production. We just need to find the business case”, said the company’s designer, Mark Lichter.
The Volkswagen Bugster has been inspired from the 964 Porsche 911 Speedster and design features from the iconic model might end up on the final version of the vehicle if it catches the production line. The Bugster is based on the 2012 Beetle and it also has something in common with the Ragster Concept launched a few years ago at the same North American automotive event. The model is powered by an electric motor which is generating 114 HP and 270 Nm of torque (199 lb-ft). The lithium-ion battery pack can be charged up to 80 percent in just 30 minutes with a quick charge level.
