Volkswagen C Coupe GTE Concept debuts in Shanghai image

Volkswagen has chosen the 2015 Shanghai Auto Show in order to officially pull the wraps off the C Coupe GTE Concept, in a world premiere.

The brand new Volkswagen C Coupe GTE Concept is the newest creation to be signed by the German based automaker and it stands at more than 5 meters in length, riding on 22-inch alloy wheels. This has been developed for the Chinese automotive market and it is apparently serving as a preview for an upcoming design language which will be used on high-end sedans. Volkswagen says that this is 1,930 mm wide and it is riding on a 3,001 mm long wheelbase. The production version of this car is said to slot between the Passat and the Phaeton.

The interior design of the car is similar to the newest generation of the Passat and it has a fully digital instrument cluster, a large touch screen display, a center console for the rear passengers, rear-seat entertainment system with dual displays and more. Power is being provided by a 4-cylinder TSI turbocharged gasoline engine, connected to an 8-speed automatic transmission which is incorporating an electric motor. The internal combustion engine is rated at 210 HP (155 kW) and the electric motor stands at 124 HP (91 kW).

The total output produced by the plug-in hybrid setup is 245 HP (180 kW) and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque. It also has a lithium ion battery, providing it with an electric range of up to 50 km (31 miles). The total range of the car stands at more than 800 km (497 miles). The average fuel consumption is 2.3L / 100km (122.8 mpg UK / 102.2 mpg US) and the CO2 emissions stand at 55 g/km. From 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph), it needs 8.6s and top speed is 232 km/h (144 mph), with 130 km/h (81 mph) in electric mode.
