Volkswagen AG, Europe’s largest automaker said Monday that global sales of light commercial vehicles rose 10.5 percent in January to 39,500 units worldwide.
Commenting on the January figures, Niall Phillips, Sales and Marketing Manager for Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles said: “Our dealers delivered an excellent performance in January thanks in no small part to the excellent value on offer, our special finance rates, new extended warranties and of course, the finest products on the market.”
In Western Europe the German automaker sold 20,500 vehicles (+6.7 percent) while in Eastern Europe sales were up by 49.9 percent, to 2,800 vehicles. The strongest region for Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles outside Europe was South America, with an increase of 14.2 percent to 11,800 vehicle deliveries (compared with 10,400 in January 2011).
“A good start has been made. We will now consistently exploit all opportunities that offer in the current year to increase sales volumes”, Schomburg emphasized.
